Preparing Your Hands for a Destination Wedding

Skin holds henna stain in direct proportion to its warmth, hydration, and oil balance. A bride who flies into Udaipur or Como the day before her ceremony often arrives with hands that simply will not take stain the way they should.

The Seven-Day Protocol

Begin one week out. Stop all retinoids, AHAs, and exfoliating acids on the hands and forearms. Switch to a fragrance-free moisturiser morning and night. Drink at least three litres of water daily — dehydrated skin gives a flat, orange stain.

Three days before, begin daily warm-water soaks for ten minutes followed by a light oil (almond or mustard) massage. The day before application, wash hands with a clarifying soap and skip moisturiser entirely.

Nail Prep

If we are doing nail art alongside mehndi, we ask brides to remove all polish 48 hours prior, file nails to their final shape, and avoid cuticle trimming. We will handle the rest in the studio with a full Russian manicure on the morning of the ceremony.
